Notion

01 Intelligence

Yes if Notion is already your workspace — AI folded into the Business tier means your assistant finally has your full context. Don't adopt Notion just for the AI; adopt it for the system, and the AI compounds it.

Pricing

Plan Price Notes
Free $0 Personal use, limited blocks for teams; Notion AI trial
Plus $10/user/mo $12 monthly; Notion AI trial only
Business $20/user/mo $24 monthly. Since Oct 19, 2026 each seat includes 1,500 Standard credits/mo (Notion's Auto router picks the model) and 500 Select credits/mo (you pick the model, or run Custom Agents). Admins can buy more. The old $10 AI add-on is gone
Custom Agents $10/1,000 credits Metered since May 2026, no rollover. Since Oct 19, 2026 you can start Custom Agents on the seat's included Select credits; purchased credits cover shared agents, high-cost models and overage

Models & versions

  • Notion AI Q&A, writing, autofill across your workspace; included in Business
  • Custom Agents Automated workflows on credits. Since the Oct 19, 2026 rebuild, agents get their own computer and browser, can run a task for 24+ hours, and have a "Review for me" safety-check mode
  • Workers (beta) Custom-code extensions for agent tools, external data sync and workflow triggers on Business and Enterprise. Free in beta; once metered, about $0.0023 per run from the shared Notion credit pool ($10 per 1,000 credits). Notion now shows the end of the free period per workspace in the credits dashboard rather than as one public date
  • Auto router Upgraded Oct 19, 2026: routes each task to a model by quality, speed and cost. Notion reports results similar to frontier models at about 90% lower average cost on its own tests
  • Bring your own AI Connect a ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go plan to your personal Notion Agent (not Custom Agents). Own-key (BYOK) is in private alpha on Enterprise

The honest read

What works

  • + AI answers grounded in your own docs, wikis, and databases
  • + One tool consolidates docs, tasks, wikis — fewer seats to pay for
  • + AI included in Business tier simplifies the old add-on math

What breaks

  • − AI now effectively requires the $20 Business tier
  • − Credits don't roll over, and Standard vs Select credits are two pools to watch
  • − Notion sprawl is real: without structure discipline it becomes the junk drawer

Use it for

  • →Teams already running their operations in Notion
  • →Solo operators consolidating docs + tasks + CRM into one system
  • →Knowledge-heavy work where search-your-own-context pays daily

Skip it if

  • ×Your docs live in Google/Microsoft — use the AI native to that suite
  • ×You need a simple task list — this is a system, with system overhead

Questions operators ask

?Is Notion AI still a paid add-on?

No — the $10 add-on was eliminated. AI ships inside the Business plan at $20/user/month. If you're on Plus for $10, AI is the argument for the upgrade, priced exactly like the old add-on.

What changed

  1. News (Notion release notes and blog, Oct 19): new credit system for all Notion AI. Business and Enterprise seats now include 1,500 Standard and 500 Select credits a month, and Custom Agents can start on the included Select credits without a purchase. Agents were rebuilt with their own computer and browser and 24-hour tasks. The Auto router was upgraded, ChatGPT Plus/Pro/Go plans can connect to the personal Notion Agent, and an AI Command Center for spend limits is coming soon. Taken from the announcement, not a pricing-page re-read, so last_verified does not move; the $10 per 1,000 credit price is still from the Oct 15 check.
  2. Re-verified on notion.com/pricing. Plus $10 and Business $20 hold, with up to 20% off yearly. Business includes Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search (beta), and Free/Plus get an AI trial only. Custom Agents and Workers draw on Notion credits at $10 per 1,000. Workers note updated: the pricing help article now gives about $0.0023 per run and no longer states a public Oct 15 start for charges.
  3. Re-verified on notion.com/pricing and the Notion AI help center. Prices hold: Plus $10, Business $20 per user (annual), Custom Agents $10 per 1,000 credits. Clarified two details: Business AI comes with a usage allowance (overage pauses or draws credits) and premium models require credits; Workers are custom-code extensions, not just background agents — still free in beta, billed from the shared credit pool from October 15, 2026.
  4. Re-verified — no changes. Plus $10/$12, Business $20/$24 (annual/monthly), Custom Agents $10/1,000 credits still hold. Workers beta still free until it starts drawing from the same credit pool October 15, 2026.
  5. Re-verified on notion.com/pricing — Plus $10 and Business $20 per user annual (roughly $12 and $24 monthly) unchanged, Custom Agents still $10 per 1,000 credits. New: Workers, a background-agent beta, is free to try and begins consuming credits October 15, 2026. Budget for it before October if you turn one on.
  6. Re-verified — no changes since July 3. Business-tier AI bundling and Custom Agent credit metering hold.
  7. Verified: AI add-on eliminated, AI now included in Business ($20/user/mo annual). Custom Agents metered at $10 per 1,000 credits since May 2026.
