Yes if your operation runs on Microsoft 365 — Copilot working inside your actual mail, spreadsheets, and meetings does what no external assistant can reach. If you're not a 365 shop, there's no reason to enter this ecosystem for the AI alone; the assistant seat market is stronger outside it.

Microsoft 365 Premium at $19.99/mo is the individual replacement: Copilot in the Office apps for the account holder, plus desktop Office and the storage. If a team relies on it, buy M365 Copilot Business instead ($18/user through the Dec 31, 2026 promo, $21 standard, or ~$23.50 bundled with Business Standard) — that is the version grounded in your company tenant's mail, files, and meetings, which is the whole reason to pay for Copilot rather than a standalone assistant.

What changed

  1. Freshness sweep. microsoft.com/copilot/pricing (rendered): business prices hold. Business Premium + Copilot is $32, Business Standard + Copilot $23.50, and the Copilot Business add-on $18 promo (Jul 1–Dec 31, 2026) / $21 standard. Changes: (1) "Advanced AI" is now usage-based on every business plan. Cowork, Code, Autopilot and the Work IQ APIs bill in Copilot Credits on top of the seat, while chat and Copilot in the apps stay included. (2) A new individual tier, Microsoft 365 Pro, is $99.99/mo, monthly only, with the highest Copilot usage and 5 TB of shared storage. (3) Premium ($19.99, unchanged) shows 2 TB of storage in the comparison table; we had "up to 6TB". Updated pricing, models and cons.
  2. News: on Sept 25 Microsoft announced Copilot Home, Code (build apps and automations from a prompt) and Autopilot (a persistent agent with its own identity and permissions). Home and Code go to the Frontier early-access program first, and Autopilot is in private preview, with more expected at Ignite (Nov 17–20). We added this to models. Pricing was not re-checked on this pass, and there is no verdict change until it reaches regular seats.
  3. Freshness sweep: checked microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-copilot/pricing. There is no price change and the $18/user Business promo still runs through Dec 31, 2026. The bundle prices are now confirmed on Microsoft's own page, not only by aggregators. Business Standard with Copilot is $23.50/user annual ($28.20 monthly). Business Premium with Copilot is $32 ($38.40). The Copilot Business add-on costs $25.20 billed monthly. Enterprise and the M365 Premium individual plan are on separate pages and were not re-checked this pass.
  4. Correction: our July 17 entry said the $18/user Business promo ended June 30, 2026 and $21 was the standing rate — that was wrong. Confirmed directly on microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-copilot/pricing: Microsoft relaunched the $18/user/mo promo for the period July 1 – Dec 31, 2026 (annual commitment, first year only), with $21 remaining the standard rate after the promo. Pricing table and FAQ updated to reflect the active $18 rate. Enterprise ($30/user), E7 ($99/user), and the Business Standard bundle (~$23.50/user) re-confirmed unchanged via aggregator cross-check (Microsoft's own page didn't restate every bundle).
  5. Copilot Pro is gone. It closed to new customers Oct 1, 2025 and existing subscriptions stopped renewing after Aug 1, 2026 — our record still listed it as a live $20/mo individual plan. Replaced with Microsoft 365 Premium at $19.99/mo (Copilot in Office for the account holder, desktop Office, up to 6TB storage) and kept Copilot Pro as a marked-retired row so anyone arriving from an old subscription knows where to go. Business $21/user, Business Standard bundle ~$23.50, Enterprise $30/user, E7 $99/user all re-confirmed unchanged. FAQ rewritten — it asked a question that no longer has an answer.
  6. July 1, 2026 pricing reset applied: the $18/user Business promo ended June 30 (our prior record said Sept 30 — Microsoft moved it), standing rate is $21/user annual. New bundles launched: Business Standard with Copilot ~$23.50/user, Business Premium with Copilot ~$32/user. Enterprise standalone $30 unchanged. Broader M365 suite prices also rose July 1 (Business Standard $12.50→$14, E3 $36→$39).
