How Much AI Video Does a Runway Plan Get You? Seconds, Not Credits

About 52 seconds a month on Standard, 187 on Pro, 791 on Max, and 575 per seat on the new Team plan. That’s if every second you generate runs on Gen-4.5, Runway’s flagship, at 12 credits per second. Runway sells credits, but you ship seconds, so do the conversion before you pick a plan.

The table

Prices are Runway’s list prices as of September 27, 2026. Seconds assume every credit goes to Gen-4.5 (60 credits per 5-second clip).

Plan Price (annual / monthly) Credits a month Gen-4.5 seconds Cost per generated second (annual)
Standard $12 / $15 625 ~52 ~$0.23
Pro $28 / $35 2,250 ~187 ~$0.15
Max $76 / $95 9,500 ~791 ~$0.10
Team (per seat, 2–9 seats) $55 / $69 6,900, pooled ~575 ~$0.10

Free gives you 125 credits once. Use them to test, not to build a pipeline on.

Generated seconds aren’t finished seconds

The table counts every second you generate, including the takes you throw away. Generative video rarely lands on the first try. If one clip in three makes the cut, a Standard plan is closer to 17 usable seconds a month than 52. Track your own keep rate for two weeks, then divide by it. That number is your real plan size.

Model choice moves the math too. Runway’s subscription covers third-party models like Veo, Kling, and Seedance, and each one has its own credit rate. Check the rate for the model you use most before you trust the table above.

Which plan fits the job

  • Occasional B-roll or a hook shot per video: Standard. A few 5-second clips a week fits in 625 credits.
  • A weekly Short built mostly from generated footage: Pro at minimum. A 30-second Short at a one-in-three keep rate eats about 90 generated seconds, so Pro covers two of those a month.
  • Daily output, or several people generating: Max for one heavy user. Team when two or more people share projects, because pooled credits stop one person’s slow week from going to waste while another runs dry.

The operator move

Put the number where you plan the work. Before a video goes into production, write down how many generated seconds it needs and how many the plan has left. When the seconds run out mid-month, that’s your answer on whether to upgrade. A plan you can’t turn into output is just a subscription.

The workflow should choose the tool, and the output target should choose the plan. For where Runway sits against HeyGen, Synthesia, and the other video seats, see how to choose an AI video tool.
